High in the Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh lies Tabo, a sacred Himalayan village home to the 1,000-year-old Tabo Monastery. Despite its cultural and spiritual significance, Tabo struggles with a hidden crisis—waste management. In this fragile high-altitude desert, where natural decomposition is painfully slow, unmanaged waste threatens both the environment and heritage.
To address this, Healing Himalayas Foundation established a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in Tabo, the first structured system for waste segregation and recycling in the region. But today, the facility operates below capacity due to critical infrastructure gaps.
This campaign seeks your support to upgrade and strengthen the Tabo MRF, ensuring it becomes a resilient, year-round waste management model for the Himalayas.
